Guiding Urmet's Evolution: From Products to Service Innovation.

Goal

Urmet SpA, a well-established Italian building technology manufacturer, is exploring a new “servitization” scenario: a transition from primarily selling products to developing a robust, service-based offering. Their ultimate goal was to identify and implement new service ideas that would secure a sustainable competitive advantage and long-term relevance in the market.

As Finsa, our mission was to act as a strategic design partner, providing an external, objective perspective to guide Urmet through this "servitization" journey. We focused on proposing a clear roadmap and actively supporting their internal teams at every stage of this transformative process.

Role & Contributions

As a Service Design Consultant with Finsa, I aquired a role in guiding Urmet through the first discovery and ideation phases for their upcoming business model transformation:
  • Managed Team Communication: internal communication and organization between Urmet and Finsa operative teams.
  • Conducted User & Stakeholder Interviews: actively supported and conducted exploratory interviews.
  • Performed Market Research analyzing competitor strategies and successful service-based business models from diverse industries.
  • Led Design Workshops: designing and facilitating workshops to generate and prioritize service ideas while ensuring collective ownership and informed decision-making.
  • Documented & Presented Findings: translating findings into clear, actionable insights and presenting them to stakeholders.
