Contributing to an End-to-End Safety Solution for the ride hailing market.

Background

Ride-hailing companies like Uber and Lyft have reported an alarming number of violence and assault allegations, raising serious concerns about passenger and driver safety. Bosch set out to help reduce these risks by developing a connected service ecosystem focused on enhancing safety in ride-hailing vehicles.

As part of an international, cross-functional team, I had the opportunity to contribute to multiple stages of this process, working on user research, UX/UI design, market analysis, and visual communication to help shape a product that could have a real impact on reducing violence during commutes.

User research and service prototyping

  • Facilitated and took notes during specialized user interviews to gather insights from potential users.
  • Observed and analyzed usability tests to identify pain points in the ride-hailing experience.
  • Contributed to user journey mapping, specifically analyzing "unhappy paths" where users encountered safety concerns.

Market analysis

  • Designed a Market Intelligence Page to keep the team updated on news and trends in mobility and ride-hailing.
  • Conducted an in-depth competitor analysis, identifying major players' strengths, weaknesses, and market gaps.
  • Researched potential customers worldwide, identifying diverse regional safety needs and expectations.

UX/UI

  • Contributed to the app and web interface design, working on visuals, UI components, user flows, and illustrations.
  • Supported workshop facilitation for product implementations and iterations, ensuring continuous design refinement.

Visual communication

  • Created a video to align cross-functional teams on the product vision.
  • Produced a collection of usability videos and animations to support users during testing sessions (such as an installation video) and enhance in-app guidance.
  • Prototyping the packaging and internal elements such as a “Welcome Card” which is used during the installation process.
